After living in Bangkok for 16+ years, our family has had the chance to go all over this concrete jungle in search of the best kids activities in Bangkok.

Explore Ko Kret Island and Market

If you want a truly authentic Thai experience, then visiting Ko Kret Island on a Saturday, Sunday or Thai Public Holiday is one of the best activities for kids to do in Bangkok.

WHAT TO DO THERE?

  • Rent bicycles to explore the island — however the walkway around the outskirts is quite full with all the little stalls, so it is recommended to explore by bike in the middle of the island
  • Take a boat trip around the island for 90 baht (about $3 USD)
  • Take a clay pottery workshop to make your own clay vase
  • Feed the fish off the pier
  • Taste some local treats and buy handmade souvenirs from the Otop Village Market

BEST WAY TO GET THERE: Book a GRAB taxi to Wat Sanam Nuae pier. Then take a boat across the river to the little Ko Kret Island for about 5 baht ($.20 cents).

Ancient City is another epic day trip activity in Bangkok for both kids and adults alike. WHAT TO DO THERE?

  • Ride elephants (a very rare opportunity so close to Bangkok)
  • Enjoy a traditional Thai Dance
  • Dress up in Thai costumes for a fun photo op
  • Play hide-n-seek amongst the ancient ruins

Take an Urban Hike up Golden Mount

For incredible views of the Bangkok skyline while also getting a glimpse of the Thai buddhist culture, take an urban hike up to the top of the Golden Mount Temple.

TIPS:

  • The 344 steps to the top is probably best suited for families with elementary aged kids and up.
  • Remember to wear shirts with sleeves and long pants or a skirt (no shorts!).  If you forget, you can buy a Thai sarong at the ticket counter to wear over your shorts.
  • Go at sunset for breathtaking views and cooler weather!

HOW TO GET THERE: Book a GRAB taxi to Wat Saket (aka Golden Mount) for about 130 baht ($4 USD) from the city center.

PRICE RANGE: 100 baht

Best Kids Activities in Bangkok = Practice the Art of Muay Thai

Another one of those epic activities for kids to be involved with in Bangkok is a Muay Thai exercise class for some good memories and a great family workout.

Kru Dam on Sukhumvit 36 has a Muay Thai Kids Class Muay Thai Kids Class

Also, Fit Fac Muay Thai Academy has some fun courses that will also help your children learn some self-defense techniques. They have multiple branches all over Bangkok.  Fit Fac Muay Thai Class

PRICE RANGE: About 400-500 baht ($11-15 USD) per 1 hour session

Enjoy a Thai-style Shaved Ice

Be refreshed with a Thai-style shaved ice at Ban-Yen — the kids will especially love this because they can choose from numerous toppings and also try some fun Thai inspired flavors.

This place also has the famous Khao Soi noodle dish and other noodle dishes if you’re feeling hungry.

Afterwards, head to their loft area to let the kids go wild with all of their dress up accessories and take some fun photos in front of their colorful murals!

BEST WAY TO GET THERE: Take the BTS Sky Train to On Nut Station and then take a 45 baht ($1.50) taxi ride. Tell the driver ‘On Nut Sip Jet’ (which means On Nut 17). Ban Yen is the bright pink building on the left at the On Nut 17 intersection.

Splash and Swim at Pororo Waterpark

Best things for kids to do in Bangkok : Pororo Waterpark

Pororo Waterpark is by far one of my kid’s favorite activities in Bangkok — and their favorite place to celebrate their birthday too.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • on the rooftop of Central Bangna Mall

  • I personally love the lazy river that has a beautiiful view of the Bangkok skyline. It’s slow moving, has some waterfalls, and is only 90cm (about 3′) deep, which means my 4 year old doesn’t even need her floatie in here.
  • They also have a toddler play area with a playground, a whale slide, and two smaller water slides. The water here is only about 30cm (about 1′) deep, which is perfect for little ones and even my 8 year old likes to play here for about 30 minutes.
  • A covered pool area with paddle boats and a leap frog area — it’s about 60 cm (about 2′) so still a great place for the little ones to play.
  • About 6-8 bigger water slides for older kids and adults, and also 4 other pools scattered around — some shallow and some deep.
  • There’s a snack bar with chicken nuggets, spaghetti, popcorn, Thai food, ice cream, etc.
TIPS:
  • Bring your own floats or you can rent the big yellow ones for the lazy river and slides there. The center is too big for my kids, so I prefer to bring small round floats for my littles.
  • You can get a stamp to go out and eat lunch in the mall and then return for more waterpark fun!

PRICE RANGE:

  • 200 baht (about $6.50 USD) for kids who are 91cm-120cm tall
  • 350 baht (about $10 USD) for kids over 121cm and adults
  • Get Discounted Pororo Waterpark Tickets from Klook — the family package is the best deal.
BEST WAY TO GET THERE: Take the BTS Sky Train towards Kheha Station and get off at UDOM SUK STATION. Then take a 45 baht (about $1.30 USD) taxi ride to Central Bangna. Pororo is on the rooftop.

Enjoy Bangkok's Green Spaces

Get outside and take in some fresh air at one of Bangkok’s numerous green spaces and parks.

My favorite park to take kids is Benchasiri Park.

  • It’s right next to the Emporium Mall, which makes it super convenient to grab a coffee beforehand or lunch after
  • two playgrounds
  • a pond with fish and turtles
  • a walking track
  • some exercise equipment that even the kids can enjoy
  • a basketball court
  • a skate park that is fun to people watch

There are bathrooms and drink stations located throughout also.

These are the ones we frequent often:

KIDZOONA INDOOR PLAYGROUND has multiple locations right off the BTS Sky Train. My kids can easily be entertained for hours here — they particularly like climbing the big net area to the top, riding the zipline, sliding into the ball pit, jumping in the bounce area, riding the tricycles, and pretending to be florists and bakers and firemen.

I particularly like getting to chill or work for a bit at a nice cafe where the kids have lots of entertainment.

PRICE RANGE: 200 baht/kid/hour (about $6.50 USD) and parents just need to buy a refreshing drink or snack.

TIPS:
